There’s something timeless about the combination of ripe peaches and Taiwanese black oolong tea. The tea’s naturally smooth body, hints of honey, and gentle roasted finish pair beautifully with the juicy sweetness of fresh peaches. Instead of refined white sugar, we use a light brown sugar simple syrup, adding a subtle caramel note that complements both the fruit and the tea without overpowering them.
This refreshing iced tea is easy enough for a weekday afternoon yet elegant enough to serve guests at a summer gathering. Once you try it, it may become your favorite way to enjoy Black Oolong Tea all season long.
⏱️ Prep Time: 10 mins 🍑 Tea Brew Time: 5 mins 🧊 Chill Time: 1–2 hrs 🥤 Serves: 2 ⭐ Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
For the Tea
- 1 Heritage Leaves Black Oolong Tea Sachet
- 2 cups (480 ml) hot water (195°F / 90°C)
- Ice cubes
For the Light Brown Sugar Simple Syrup
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup water
For Serving
- 1 ripe peach, sliced
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
- Additional peach slices for garnish
Instructions
1. Make the Simple Syrup
Combine the light brown sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool. Store any extra syrup in the refrigerator for future drinks.
2. Brew the Tea
Steep the Black Oolong Tea in hot water (195°F / 90°C) for 4–5 minutes. Strain the leaves immediately to prevent over-extraction. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature before chilling.
3. Assemble the Drink
Fill two glasses with ice. Pour the chilled black oolong tea over the ice. Add 1–2 tablespoons of the light brown sugar simple syrup to each glass, adjusting to your preferred sweetness.
Add several slices of fresh peach and gently stir. Garnish with mint leaves if desired.
4. Serve
Enjoy immediately while cold. As the peaches infuse into the tea, the drink becomes even more fragrant and refreshing.
Tea Tip
Light brown sugar brings a gentle caramel sweetness that enhances the honey-like notes naturally found in Taiwanese Black Oolong Tea. It creates a richer, more balanced flavor than white sugar while allowing the tea itself to remain the star.
For the best flavor, always remove the tea leaves after brewing. Leaving the leaves in hot water too long can make the tea bitter and eventually develop a slightly sour taste as it cools.
